Installing & Connecting Windows in VirtualBox ~ Part 1

Okay, after we finished installing virtualbox on backtrack, then the next we will create Penetration Test Laboratory using VirtualBox which we installed earlier.

Things that we need to create Penetration Test Laboratory is VirtualBox-4.2, Windows XP SP3,  and Backtrack 5 R2.

Steps to Installing & Connecting Windows in VirtualBox

1.  Open VirtualBox Manager




2. Klik "New", for fresh installation.

3. And then will apear, Create New Virtual Machine, and you required to fill in the name of the column, and select type of operating system you intend to install. Click "Next" for continue.




4. Then, specify amount of memory RAM in MB to be allocated to virtual machine. Click "Next" for continue.


5. In this steps, we will setting hard drive that we use for system. Because its new installation we choose "Create a virtual hard drive now" and then click "Create".


6. Then, we choose the type of file that we would like to use for the new virtual drive. We choose "VDI (Virtual Disk Image)". Click "Next" for continue.


7. This step we choose Strorage on physical hard drive. In here we choose "Fixed size" that is faster to use than dynamically allocated. Click "Next" for continue.



8. Then, we specify the size of virtual hard drive. This size is the limit on the amount of file data that a virtual machine will be able to store on the hard drive. And then click "Create" for create new virtual machine.


9. Okay, all arrangements have been completed, and then we will install the system in a virtualbox. Click the name of virtual machine, then click "Start".



10. In this step we select start-up disk.


11. Locate the the ISO Windows XP SP3 file.


12. After that, we click "Start" to start installation.


13. Installation begin, "Setup is starting windows"


14. Press enter to Continue



15. Press F8 to agree the Windows XP License and continue the installation.

  
16. Install the system in unpartioned space. Press enter to install.


17. Select the file system for new partition. We choose NTFS File System.



18. And then the setup will format the partition.


19. After formatting, the setup will copying the files.


20. After the setup is finish then the computer will restart.



21. And then will apear black screen as below, just ignoring this, dont press any key.


22. After the restart installation will continue.



23. Will apear Regional and Language Options, then click "Next"

 
  
24. Then type your name and company organization. 

 

25. Enter the product key, and then click "Next".



26. Setup the computer name and the password.


27. Settings the date and time.


28. Set the network settings, we choose Typical settings, then click "Next"



29. Setup will continue for finishing installation.



30. After finish, will apear Welcome to Microsoft Windows screen.




31.  Set the Automatic Update for protect the system.



32. Set the type of computer connect to the Internet.


33.  Choice for activated Windows.


34. Setup the Workgroup and Computer Domain.


35. Setup the name who will use.



36. Congratulations screen for installing Windows.



37. Windows XP Professional SP3 already installed in VirtualBox
